Dr. Seuss Musical Coming to Senior Center
"The Lorax" will be performed on May 12.

Windham Recreation has announced a free weekend family musical based on a famous Dr. Seuss book, set to take place at the Senior Center.
A traveling production group called Story Dance Touring Company will put on a performance of "The Lorax" on May 12 at 10 a.m.
The popular eco-conscious book was recently adapted into a movie.

SDTC is a division of New England Dance Ensemble, which has been responsible for several productions in Windham. The group is comprised of performers between ages five and 12 who have been trained in acting, singing and dancing.
SDTC is directed by Kate Mullen, who is an actress from New York. The group has been performing for five year, acting in front of pre-schools, grade schools and senior centers in the southern portion of New Hampshire.

The performance of "The Lorax" is also an educational pursuit, as audience members are given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss book themes after the show.
A release from Windham Recreation dictated the goal of SDTC:
"The mission of this enthusiasitc and talented company is to spread understanding, kindness and consciousness to young audiences by bringing to life morally based childrren's literature," the release said.
