The fire is still under investigation by Deputy Chief William Martineau and it is unclear how it began. It did not appear to be suspicious.
UPDATE, 8:40 p.m.: Almost 30 firefighters were at the scene of a fully-involved garage fire late this afternoon on Lisa Road.
According to Deputy Fire Chief William Martineau, the owner was in the house at the time of the blaze, but was able to evacuate and immediately call 911. The owner also made sure his kids were out of the house.
Mutual aid came to fight the blaze from Pelham, Derry and Hudson. "We had quite a contingent there (including) tanker trucks," said Martineau.
The fire was contained to the garage and two vehicles parked outside the garage.
"The guys did an aggressive attack and prevented the garage fire from burning the house down," said Martineau. "There was some moderate outside damage to the house from the flame impingement but other than that it was pretty well knocked down and taken care of."
According to Martineau, the fire took just over an hour to extinguish.
