Girl Scouts to Honor Flynn in May
The director of the Windham Country Club, and PGA Professional, will be the org's first Greater Salem Citizens of Distinction.

PELHAM, NH - Joanne Flynn of the Windham Country Club and Enterprise Bank of Salem will be honored next month, during Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains’ first Greater Salem Citizens of Distinction award ceremony, according to a press statement.
The citizen of distinction award celebrates exceptional personal and corporate contributions to our community, as demonstrated through civic responsibility. The inaugural awards ceremony will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Harris’ Pelham Inn in Pelham.
As the region’s first citizen of distinction, Flynn, a PGA Professional and director of the Windham Country Club, admits she tends to spend more time organizing charity events or doing volunteer work than swinging a golf club these days. She spent a great deal of her younger days on the golf course, which her father, Bill, built and opened in 1995.

Flynn serves on many local boards, devoting her time to a wide array of charities and community programs.
“I meet people and I just want to help them,” she said. “I just love to do it.”

Enterprise Bank is this year’s corporate honoree. Enterprise Bank was founded in Lowell, MA nearly three decades ago by George Duncan, who continues to serve on the bank’s board of directors.
“When he founded this company, it was absolutely imperative to him that we become part of the communities we serve and support our local nonprofits,” said Peter Rayno, Enterprise Bank’s executive vice president and NH community banking director.
Enterprise Bank came to Salem 11 years ago and has been actively engaged in the community ever since.
“You’d be hard-pressed to find an organization we haven’t supported,” Rayno noted, adding that employees volunteer for a number of local organizations and serve on various boards and committees. “It’s incumbent to do more than simply write checks: you need to roll up your sleeves as well."
Tickets to the Citizen of Distinction event are $75 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
