Man Stopped in Windham After Walmart Theft
Shaun Maher was also charged with lying to Salem Police about his identity.

A Nashua man was charged Tuesday with trying to stealing a television from Walmart and later lying to Salem Police about his identity.
Shaun Maher, 30, of Nashua was charged with a felony theft charge as well as false reports to law enforcement after an incident that took place just after 4 p.m.
Police said they responded to Walmart for a reported male subject attempting to steal a 40-inch flat-panel television valued at $548. He was stopped by store personnel but then fled in a vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped on Route 111 in Windham with the assistance of the Windham Police Department. Police said the suspect was positively identified as Maher and was taken into custody without incident.
Maher has several past theft convictions so police said the charge was upgraded to a Class B felony. According to police, Maher also lied to them about his identity.

He was booked at Salem Police headquarters and was later released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail.
