
With the 2011-2012 school year coming to a close, a wave of board positions for the Windham Parent Teacher Association are opening up to interested volunteers.
There are four elected positions and five appointed positions opening up for next school year. Nominees must be a PTA member, but no previous board or PTA experience is required.
All elected members commit to a two-year term on the board. The board meets once a month at night, between September and June.

The elected positions and their descriptions are listed below.
President – Manages overall objectives and strategies of PTA. Oversees all officers and activities. Creates agendas and facilitates monthly PTA meetings.

Vice-President – Acts as aide to the president. Acts as liaison between PTA and Windham School Board. Performs duties of the president in their absence.
Treasurer – Oversees the finances of the PTA. Maintains accurate records of all PTA income and expenses. Has signature authority for all expenses. Presents monthly statements and financial information at each meeting. Prepares an annual budget for review and vote. Prepares annual tax return.
Secretary – Maintains an accurate record of the proceedings of all PTA meetings. Forwards all meeting minutes to board for review. Provides a copy of minutes at PTA meeting for approval.
In order for the board to operate, the President, Treasurer and Secretary positions must all be filled.

Membership Chair – Plans and executes membership drive throughout school year. Reports membership totals to National PTA. Retains membership records. Completes and distributes membership cards.
Sign Coordinator – Responsible for keeping the lighted marquee sign outside of Center School up-to-date with school calendar events throughout the school year.
Community Education Coordinator – Coordinates presentations and/or distributes backpack flyers with useful information on a variety of topics that help parents. (ie. health, internet safety, etc.)
Golden Brook Teacher Representative – Serves as teacher representative for all GBS teachers at PTA meetings to voice concerns, questions and opinions with respect to school-wide issues.
Windham Center School Teacher Representative – Serves as teacher representative for all WCS teachers at PTA meetings to voice concerns, questions and opinion with respect to school-wide issues.

Being a board member of the Windham PTA is one of the many ways parents (and teachers) can show their support and contribute during the school year. Next year's PTA board will change dramatically and we need your help to keep our support and our programs strong.
