Police Searching for Missing UNH Student from Windham

Jonathan Zygmont, 19, was last seen in Portsmouth.

Police are asking the public's help finding a missing University of New Hampshire student.

Jonathan Zygmont, 19, of Windham, was last seen in Portsmouth near Prescott Park Tuesday at about 8:30 p.m.

Police do not suspect foul play but said they are concerned for his well-being. They said Zygmont may have been having relationship difficulties and was "despondent."

“Based on the information we have we’re eager to find Jonathan and make sure he’s OK,” said UNH Police Chief Paul Dean.

Zygmont is described as a white male stranding 5 feet, 11 inches and weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing black shoes, khaki pants, and a brown sweatshirt with the word “Burton” on it in red lettering. He was carrying a black North Face backpack. 

UNH officials are working cooperatively with law enforcement agencies in the Seacoast area including Portsmouth Police, Kittery Police, Durham Police, N.H. Marine Patrol, and the U.S. Coast Guard, in the search for Zygmont.
