Ready, Set, Motion!! The 2/3 grade Wolverines began their season Sunday against the Concord Capitals

The kicking team was led by Brady Mahoney with the opening kick-off. Alec Arinello stopped the Capitals on the 50 yard line. Defensively, Billy DePietro, Anthony Marinaro, Michael Matuszewski and Cole Yennaco had tackles on the Capitals. The Capitals fumbled the ball and Anthony Marinaro recovered the ball for the Wolverines. Offensively, Jake Joyce and Aiden Williams gained yardage down the field. Timmy Hoffman picked up yards by completing a Quarterback keeper. Within minutes of the second quarter, the offensive ran the football down field with Michael Matuszewski gaining 15 yards. Down field, Henri Kulesza and Sam Stewart had key blocks to help Brady Mahoney score the Wolverines first touchdown. Lukasz Rondeau was in for the 2 point conversion, putting the Wolverines up. With the Capitals gaining the ball back, Anthony Marinaro sacked the quarterback on the 43 yard line, Josh Sweeney stopped the run and the ball was turned back over to the Wolverines with minutes left in the first half. Jake Micciche and Christian Burns ran the ball down the field trying to score before time ran out. The first half ended with the Wolverines up. The Capitals kicked an onside kick and recovered the ball to start the second half. Andrew Noel came up with a huge tackle to stop the Capitals but they were able to score another touchdown. The Wolverines came up short in their first game but it was an exciting start to the 2013 season and a fantastic effort by all of the Wolverine players. Special thanks to those Tiny Mite Cheerleaders who cheered loud and strong all the boys’ long drives down the field!
