See 'The Lorax' at the Windham Go Green Fair

The event will take place tomorrow.

Families can enjoy a free performance of “The Lorax,” a colorful and upbeat musical production meant to raise Earth consciousness during the Windham Go Green Fair.

Based on the eco-conscious book by Dr. Seuss, and made popular by a movie by the same title, this highly entertaining production is being presented by Story Dance Touring Company, a division of the regional New England Dance Ensemble.

Published in 1971, and perhaps inspired by the "save our planet" mindset of the 1960s, “The Lorax” is an ecological warning that still rings true today amidst the dangers of clear-cutting, pollution, and disregard for the earth's environment.

The SDTC is comprised of southern New Hampshire performers between the ages of 5 and 12. The mission of this enthusiastic and talented company is to spread understanding, kindness and consciousness by bringing to life morally based children’s literature.

Directed by New York actress Kate Mullen, and based out of the Londonderry Dance Academy studios, SDTC has enjoyed six years of offering values education through performing arts.

The engaging cast sings and dances their way through the classic Seuss tale about the environment, industry, empowerment and how one individual can help the Earth.

Windham Center School fifth-grader Victoria InDelicato plays the part of the fuzzy yellow tree-hugging Lorax.

“The Lorax” production was launched in 2012, and has afforded the opportunity for children and adults of all ages to experience the joy of live theater together.

The SDTC touring group has a busy schedule this spring, and is slated to perform “The Lorax” at area schools, childhood programs, civic centers, and Earth Day events.

Following each performance, audience members have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss topics related to both the book themes and the performing arts skills that bring these books to life.

The performance of “The Lorax” during the Windham Go Green Fair is at 1 p.m., April 13, at Windham High School. The Go Green Fair is from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on at the high school.
