State Police: Mass. Man Crashed on I-93 While OD'ing on Heroin

Derry Fire and Rescue teams revive Michael Kendall of Greenfield, MA after Windham crash; he is due in Salem District Court in March.

A man allegedly overdosing on heroin caused an accident earlier today on snowy I-93 south, according to the New Hampshire State Police.

Michael Kendall, 28, of Greenfield, MA, was arrested on Jan. 24, 2015, and charged with operating after suspension, subsequent offense, and reckless driving.

According to a report, a trooper was called to the Windham stretch of I-93 south for a report of a single vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, the trooper found that the driver, Kendall, was not conscious or breathing. Derry Fire and Rescue teams used Narcan to revive the driver, later identified as Kendall.

Later, the trooper learned that Kendall reportedly “lost consciousness, crashed into the guardrail and his vehicle came to a stop in the breakdown lane just north of Exit 3,” according to Sgt. Bryan Trask of Troop B. “(The) trooper discovered that approximately a half hour prior to the crash Kendall had used heroin.”

Kendall was then transported him to Parkland Medical Center where he was arrested and charged. He is due in Salem District Court on March 11.
