From WHS Track Coach Ryan O'Connor
The Meet of Champions was held this (past) Sunday at Londonderry High School. The following athletes placed in the top six of their respective events and have earned the right to represent the state of New Hampshire at the New England Track and Field Championships in Saco, Maine on Saturday, June 9th.
Derek Gray: 100m dash - 3rd place
Coach Take: You only get the chance to coach someone like Derek once in a long time. He hung right in there with Jerickson and Bailey and beat some very fast kids in the process. These are elite sprinters and Derek has worked hard to become one, too.
Patrick Fitzgerald: Long Jump - 3rd place
Patrick Fitzgerald: 110 High Hurdles - 5th place (new school record)
Coach Take: The Londonderry Invite three weeks ago was a turning point for Patrick. With each meet, he gains more confidence. He knows how to handle pressure and he's now made a name for himself in the track world. The sky is the limit for him.
Boys 4 x 100m relay (Derek Gray, CJay DiPrima, Kennie Padin, and Brandon Dreyfuss) - 3rd place (new school record)
Coach Take: This was three years in the making. For three years, this team has been the cornerstone of the program. It's altogether fitting they worked together as one to accomplish a goal. Looking at the teams that placed behind us - Salem, Central, Memorial, Nashua North, Londonderry, Concord, Bedford - it's so awesome to see tiny Windham above them all. They deserve all of it.

Derek just missed the top six in the 200m, too. He finished 7th in the 200 and was .04 seconds off of sixth place. Also, freshman Kristen Tilley set a new school record and ran one awesome race with the big guns in the 800m to take 9th place.
