Windham Music Educator Gets His Award
The award to Jared Cassedy is part of a joint partnership between The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation.
Jared Cassedy, the 2015 Music Educator Award recipient from Windham High School and Windham High School were honored by The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation, according to a press statement.
Pamela Alexander, director, community development, Ford Motor Company Fund and Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation, presented Cassedy with a $10,000 honorarium. Windham High School also received a matching $10,000 grant.
A joint partnership of The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation, the Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators (kindergarten through college, public and private schools) who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools. Jared Cassedy, the 2015 Music Educator Award recipient, was recognized during the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast. A total of 10 music teachers from 10 cities across nine states were finalists for the award. In total, more than 7,000 initial nominations were submitted from all 50 states.
