Windham Student Receives Scholarship

Siddhart Agarwal of Windham High School was 12th in his class this year.

The Charles A. Doherty Memorial Foundation (“CADmf”), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of premature deaths related to bicuspid aortic valve disease (BAVD), awarded one of its second annual scholarships to Siddhart Agarwal of Windham High School earlier this year.

The scholarships were created in memory of Charles A. Doherty, who passed away suddenly in 2012 at age 34 from BAVD. The scholarships were presented to high school graduates who meet the following criteria:

  1. plan to pursue a career in cardiology or related medical field;
  2. demonstrate a balance of academic and athletic excellence;
  3. have a strong passion for helping others;
  4. possess other similar values and interests as the scholarship’s namesake, Charles Doherty.

Siddhart was ranked 12th in his graduating class and spent many hours volunteering as both an elementary school tutor and youth camp counselor for several sports. He was the recipient of numerous awards including the Renaissance Award, Presidential Service Award, NHIAA Scholar-Athlete Award and New Hampshire Scholars Award, in addition to playing varsity football and track and field. He also has a solid musical background, writing songs and playing the guitar, as well as teaching to younger guitarists. He will be attending Tufts University in the fall to pursue a Biomedical Engineering (Pre-Med) degree and hopes to obtain a career in the medical field, focusing on cell regeneration or cardiology.
