Windham Voters Head to the Polls Tuesday

The town will consider competitive town and school races as well as zoning amendment, town and school budgets, school construction, a track.

WINDHAM, NH - Voters in Windham go to the polls from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, to vote on a number of proposals including competitive town races, zoning amendments, and budgets. The voting will take place Windham High School in Windham.

On the town side of the ballot, voters have competitive races for Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, and Supervisor of the Checklist.

The town will also vote on an operating budget of $13,563,309. If it isn't approved, a default budget of $13,323,344 will be set.

On the school ballot, there are three candidates running for a single, three-year term seat on the school board.

Voters will also consider a $38.95 million bond for renovating and adding to the Golden Brooke School and construction and renovation and/or an addition to the Windham Middle School. If the vote fails, voters can also choose to establish an $800,000 capital reserve fund to purchase land. Voters will also consider a $4.2 million track and field proposal at the high school. For a school operating budget, voters can choose between a $48,588,990 budget or, if rejected, a default budget of $47,460,815.

Three zoning articles, with numerous amendments, will also be considered by voters, including the creation of a market square overlay district and wetlands protections.
