Grade 2/3 Game Highlights:
The Windham Wolverines stood strong in their matchup against the Nashua Elks in their fourth game of the 2013 season.Β Β Opening kick-off, Anthony Marinaro carried the ball to the 44 yard line.Β Β With awesome blocks by the Wolverine offense, Aiden Williams drove the ball into the end zone for the first Wolverine touchdown. Lukasz Rondeau made the extra point all within the first 15 seconds of the first Quarter.Β Β The Wolverines lined up for the kick off to give the Elks possession of the ball, but Brady Mahoney recovered the ball on the kick-off, and gave the Wolverines possession. With Mahoney running the ball, almost getting caught in the backfield, he cuts through the Elks and scored the Wolverinesβ second touchdown and Aiden Williams got the extra point.Β Β Andrew Noel, Dylan Yeung, Jonathon Fitzmaurice, Anthony Marinaro, Jake Micciche, Sweeney, and Cole Yennaco were all part of the defensive team and stopped the Nashua Elks.Β Β Both Jake Joyce and Marinaro had quarterback sacks to gain the ball back for their team.Β Β Β Β Nick Furnari passed the ball to Williams β penalty on the play against the Elks.Β Β Play set up β Furnari to Mahoney, reverse to Williams with a key block by Rondeau, Wolverines score again.Β Β Β Elks get the ball back, but do not gain yardage due to key tackles on the next three plays by Nick LaRoche, Sam Stewart and Yennaco. Furnari and Michael Matuszewski tackled the Elks keeping them on the 20 yard line with no gain in yardage.Β Β Hayden Kushman and Ryan Parke continued with defensive tackles holding the Elks.Β Β With Wolverines taking back possession, Tucker Adams, Timmy Hoffman Alec Arinello and Josh Sweeney sent the ball back down the field towards the goal line.Β Β Sweeney handed the ball off to Christian Burns who ran the ball in for another Wolverine touchdown.Β Β Logan Carter, on the tackle, stopped the Elks on the 50 yard line with the Elks back in possession of the ball.Β Β Matt Desmarais also stopped the Elks with the tackle that ended the first half with the Wolverines up.

Yennaco kicked off to start the second half.Β Β Bryan Desmarais and LaRoche were on the tackle stop the Elks.Β Β Jake Galiatsatos, Billy DePietro and Henri Kulesza all make key tackles to give the ball back to the Wolverines.Β Β With the Wolverines back in possession of the ball, Caleb Yeung and Evan Logue assisted the offensive line and Mahoney made another touchdown for the Wolverines.Β Β With two minutes left on the clock for the game, the Wolverines kicked to the Elks, the offensive player on the Elks ran the ball down field, got past all Wolverines to the four yard line, where Mahoney made a key tackle to prevent the touchdown by the Elks.Β Β The defensive line of the Wolverines held the Elks and the Wolverines won their second game of the 2013 season!!Β Β The Wolverines could not have done it without the loud cheers coming from the Windham Tiny Mites Cheer Squad!!Β Β The Wolverines take on NorRock away nextΒ Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 8:00am.

First Quarter was a rainyΒ 8 amΒ as the boys entered a muddy puddle-ridden field to begin battle for game four of the season. Kickoff went to Nashua who drew immediate first blood returning the ball for a touchdown on their first possession. Sam Dunham, Aidan Arinello and Brett Boucher all sounded back with a series of great runs and first down acquisitions letting Nashua know that the rest of the game would not be that easy. Aidan Arinello brought the first touchdown to the Windham board and Brett Boucher sealed the deal with the extra point. Ryan Garcia made the best of the muddy wet conditions and stripped Nashua of the ball after Mason "Mad Dog" Rice made a great hit on the opposing runner. Aidan Arinello brought the second touchdown to the boards. Nashua quickly followed up with a touchdown,Β Β Β missing the extra point closing the first quarter in Windham's favor.
Second quarter opened quickly with Cole Peterson firing up the middle and giving the added advantage with the third touchdown of the game. Nashua shut down the extra point, but Mason Rice quickly recovered a fumble in the muddy conditions returning the ball to Windham's line of scrimmage. The boys worked hard with some great blocking on the front line from the likes of Charlie Palmer, Nick Panzini and Patick Furtado allowing Adam Koza to bring the ball into the end zone. Peterson again broughtΒ Β the ball up the center line for the extra point. Sean "The Creeper" Kasprzak brought the third fumble recovery back to Windham's side of the field as Koza brought in Windhamβs fifth touchdown of the game. Nashua again shut down the extra point and Kolby Kurto returned the ball to Nashua with a well-placed onside kick ending the second quarter.
Third Quarter heated up quickly for Windham as Nick "The Gman" Giacoukamis made an outstanding backfield tackle and Christian Spinazola ran a 40-yard return deep into the opposing backfield. Anthony Gaiero, Christopher Billone and Grant Cravaak threw some great blocks and held the line with Windham in the lead.
Fourth quarter finalized the Windham win as Koza ran the final touchdown into the Nashua end zone. Joe Hero sent the ball back to Nashua with the kickoff. The defense held the line for the rest of the game as Keegan Parke, Ian Dowgiert and Brody Waldron all played great defensive plays throughout the entire game. It was a wet and muddy day and the boys played hard in tough conditions. The Windham Wolverines fourth grade cheer squad was out in full force to keep the energy up and perform a great half time show. A big shout-out to the girls for always keeping the spirit in the game!
Grade 5 Game Highlights:
The first quarter startedΒ withΒ great effortΒ in theΒ trenchesΒ for the Grade 5 Wolverines who battled both on offense and defense to try to get ahead in their game against Nashua. A strong defense led by Nicolas Palmer, Jon Krikorian, Jackson Stewart, Connor Matthews and Jack Hamill battled to hold Nashua to one TD in the first half while the offense was held to a scoreless first half.Β Nashua 6 and Windham 0 at half time.
Windham was determined in the third quarter, with a great team effort by all. With three minutes left in the third quarter, powerful blocking helped Joey DaSilva dive into the end zone for the first Windham TD tying the game 6 to 6. Β Curtis Shattuck kept the momentum building with incredible runs, behind the blocking of Stephen Mague. With continued defense and strongΒ tackles,Β they fought hard to hold the Nashua offense and carried the game into overtime. The Windham defense, led by James Comeau, stopped Nashua and gave Windham possession in overtime. With blocks by Joseph Pallaria, Tyler Mueller and Jacob George, Joey DaSilva ran for his second touchdown of the game and made the final score Windham 18 Nashua 12.Β
Grade 6 Game Highlights:
The Grade 6 Wolverinesβ Football team came out strong, once again, beating the Nashua Elks 33-0 with strong play on both sides of the ball. Windham got onto the board on the first play from scrimmage when Jake Dunlap went off tackle for 45 yards to make it 6-0 Windham. The extra point was good with a strong run by Tommy Doe behind blocks of Dylan Szostak and Cooper Melvin. Windhamβs Defense then came up strong and shut out Nashua behind the strong defensive line play of Nick Mueller, Bobby Cicco, Jack Matuszewski and Dylan Szostak. The offense then went back to work with a 75-yard touchdown run from Tommy Doe that put Windham up by 13-0. Windham continued to control the game with another long run by Dunlap to score Windhamβs third touchdown to make it 18-0.Β The Defense then went to work with strong play by the entire team to keep Nashua off the board prior to the half. Parker Rice, Dylan Field, Jack Potter and Luke Schramm were defensive standouts all day.
The second half opened up with Nashua making small gains on offense before Doe came in with a crushing sack that caused a Nashua fumble.Β Β Windhamβs offense then made some nice runs down the field behind key blocks by Owen Preble, Zack Kurgan and Mason Belsky. Windham had a touchdown called back by a penalty that resulted in a tremendous Riley Demarais 40 yard punt that pinned Nashua on their own one-yard line. The Defense then went back to work and shut Nashua down leading to another Nashua punt. Windhamβs offense turned inside with runs up the middle by Mason Belsky and Riley Demarais. Riley finished the drive with his first touchdown of the day as he ran over three Nashua defenders before getting into the end zone to make is 25-0. Dunlap scored the extra point with a nice run to the outside making it 26-0. Nashua then went to the air on offense trying to find something that might work, however Riley Demaris made another spectacular play by intercepting the pass and taking it back 40 yards for the final Windham touchdown of the day making it 32-0. The two teams continued to fight hard with key defensive stops by Nick Plouff, Jack Flanagan and Kyle Keenan.Β Β Β It was a great team win by all players, especially the offensive line who continued to make holes all day long for the Windham running backs.
