Wolverines 7th grade team opened away in Keene

The 7th grade Windham Wolverines opened their season on the road strong and victorious over the Keene Knights 21-12.  Early in the first quarter Keene scored the first touchdown of the game.   Early in the first quarter Keene scored the first touchdown of the game but the defense bounced back lead by Jacob Wallace who stuffed the extra point holding the Knights to a 6 point lead. The offensive line was led with fine blocking from Alex Li and Andrew Sweezey and in the second quarter Thomas Hebert’s pass completion to Robbie Furman resulted in a 12 yard touchdown.  Cameron Burns scored the extra point making the half time score 7-6 Wolverines.

A strong and energized Windham Wolverine team returned to the field after halftime and played an exciting third quarter. Awesome defense by Wolverine Jacob Whiteford caused Keene to fumble and turn over the ball on the 15 yard line.  Hebert made good use of the turnover and threw a pass completion to Jeff Andon who scored the Wolverines second touchdown of the game.  Hunter Delaney caught the critical extra point pass making the score 14-6 Wolverines.  With 5 minutes left in the third quarter Robbie Furman intercepted a pass and turned possession back over to the Wolverines. Hebert then threw to Gannon Fast who lived up to his last name and ran a 90 yard touchdown resulting in the scoreboard lighting up for the Wolverines 20-6.  Ray Galasso caught the extra point pass leaving the third quarter score 21-6 Wolverines.

Keene attempted a slight rally in the 4th quarter and scored a touchdown.  Again, the Wolverines defense did not allow an extra point.  Notable throughout the game was the solid defense led by Windham’s Troy Pothier, Nick Gaiero and JP Pallaria. It was a true display of total team effort that resulted in a great opening day win!
