42 Gang Members, Affiliates Charged In Violent NJ Conspiracies: Feds
The charges stem from five separate investigations into organized crime — some of which were linked to homicides, authorities said.
NEW JERSEY — Forty-two people linked to several gangs throughout New Jersey face changes related to violence, firearms, racketeering and drug distribution, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The charges stem from five separate investigations into organized crime — some of which were linked to homicides, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced Wednesday.
The investigations combined efforts from local, state and federal law enforcement as part of New Jersey's Violent Crime Initiative (VCI), which identifies, targets and prosecutes violent offenders and criminal organizations, according to the DOJ. Shooting incidents have declined statewide and in cities where the VCIs operate compared to last year, including reductions in Newark (30 percent), Jersey City (27 percent) and Paterson (12 percent).

"These decreases are not a reason for anyone to rest easy or let up," Sellinger said, "but it is a positive note for our communities that have seen all too much violence."

Members and associates of the following gangs were charged, according to federal authorities:
- Oscar Miles Housing Complex Drug Trafficking Organization: The organization controlled the drug trade in and around the Oscar Miles Village housing complex in Newark, officials said. Fourteen people were charged Wednesday with intent to distribute narcotics, including fentanyl, heroin and cocaine.
- Rollin’ 60’s Neighborhood Crips Criminal Organization: From 2015-22, the criminal organization operated in Essex and Union Counties, the New Jersey prison system, elsewhere in New Jersey and nationally, the DOJ said. Ten members and associates were charged with participating in a racketeering conspiracy involving drug trafficking, carjackings, robberies, non-fatal shootings and murder, authorities said.
- Bounty Hunter Bloods Criminal Organization: The enterprise operated in Somerset, Middlesex, Passaic, and Mercer Counties, along with the state prison system, from 2019-22, officials said. Seven members were indicted for participating in a racketeering conspiracy that involved the commission of multiple murders, multiple non-fatal shootings, fraud and drug distribution, according to the DOJ. In one instance, members shot nine people in New Brunswick, killing two, authorities said. Over the course of the conspiracy, members and associates have shot 16 people in New Jersey, killing three, according to the DOJ.
- Lincoln Park Drug Trafficking Organization: Six people were charged with conspiring in a drug trafficking organization that distributed fentanyl and crack-cocaine in and around Lincoln Park in Newark, the DOJ said. During the investigation, law enforcement also seized 13 guns, authorities said.
- Trinitarios: Five members and associates of several of the street gang's branches were charged with conspiring to distribute cocaine and heroin, as well as firearms offenses, officials said. The defendants conducted narcotics and firearm activities in and around the Fifth Ward of Paterson, according to the DOJ.
