These Are The Best Schools In NJ: 2023 Rankings

Let's take a look back at how New Jersey schools fared in 2023 based on ratings by U.S. News & World Report, Niche, Newsweek and others.

NEW JERSEY — Throughout the year, various publications release “best of” lists to help guide New Jersey residents’ educational choices, from the best elementary schools to the best colleges and universities to pursue a graduate degree.

New Jersey figured prominently in several data analyses and study-driven rankings for education, from U.S. News & World Report, Niche, Newsweek and others. Some highlights:

According to U.S. News, New Jersey boasts several of the best high schools, middle schools and elementary schools. Princeton, Rumson and Jersey City were among those to top the lists for best middle and elementary schools. While for high schools, Vocational and Technical Schools got high honors in New Jersey.

The ranking and review site Niche also weighed in on the best public schools, school districts and colleges.

Nine schools in New Jersey were designated National Blue Ribbon Schools by the Department of Education.

Another government report, the Nation’s Report Card from the National Center for Education Statistics, said New Jersey's fourth and eighth graders' decreasing test scores in math and reading show just how much the coronavirus pandemic upended learning in the Garden State.

Finally, Money magazine’s list of the best colleges included 21 New Jersey institutions.
