Temperatures will begin to dip on Friday, along with some showers possible at night.

Increasing clouds will also form on Friday, leading into the weekend, before a real soaker comes down on Saturday.

Widespread rain will develop by Saturday afternoon and evening. Up to 1 inch of rain is possible.

"On Saturday, chilly, damp air will remain in place across much of the Northeast, while a storm system approaches from the west," Accuweather said. "This setup will produce a swath of rain moving east from Friday night into Saturday."

Along with the rain, cool, cloudy, and breezy conditions are expected this weekend.

Temperatures will drop to 44 on Friday night and then down to 39 on Saturday night, when the heaviest rain will hit.

A chance of showers will remain on Sunday morning before drying out. Sunday will continue to be cool and cloudy with highs in the 50s.

"While this may be unpleasant, especially since it will be over the weekend, it is good to remember that this is a beneficial rainfall," the National Weather Service's Mt. Holly, New Jersey branch said in forecast discussion.

Looking ahead to next week, the National Weather Forecast says it "looks showery after a dry Monday, but with mild/seasonable temperatures."
