New Jersey could see the end of a seasonable week of weather when the remnants of Hurricane Isaias bring rain to the Garden State on Sunday.

Isaias formed as a Tropical Storm early Wednesday and has since strengthened into a hurricane expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast later this week.

Isaias is the first Atlantic hurricane of the 2026 season, though it's the latest first hurricane to form in a season in a century.

In New Jersey, forecasters expect a warm and breezy Thursday that's mostly clear with diminishing winds into the night.

Weather will remain "tranquil and seasonable" on Friday and Saturday before the remnants of Isais bring rain on Sunday, the National Weather Service said.

Some periods of heavy rainfall will be possible, forecasters said, though the National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has placed most of the region at a Marginal Risk for excessive rain on Sunday.

"It is too early to specify exact rainfall amounts, but confidence is higher than normal that a large portion of the area could end up with 1-2 inches of rain, with higher amounts certainly not our of the question," forecasters said. "We will continue to monitor trends over the coming days."

Isaias is expected to make landfall Friday night into Saturday morning along the eastern Gulf Coast before storm remnants move toward the East Coast on Sunday.
