Nor'easter Targets NJ, Multiple Rounds Of Storms Possible

A wet, dreary week is in store for New Jersey, with a potential nor'easter threatening to bring high winds, flooding and more, according to the latest forecast.

Below-normal temperatures will linger through the week, and rain is expected Monday and Tuesday, National Weather Service forecasters said.

As we get into the mid-week, a coastal storm is expected to form. However, the track it takes will determine its impacts on New Jersey.

If the storm forms closer to the coast, then rain and wind will be stronger and more widespread, forecasters predict.

But as of Monday morning, models are tracking the storm further off the coast, National Weather Service forecasters said. This means that rain chances will be low except for at the immediate coast.

But the strength of the storm means that breezy to windy conditions are expected, even for inland areas, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds may get so strong that wind advisories may be issued along the Jersey Shore, particularly later Wednesday into Thursday, forecasters said.

Coastal flooding is likely, with the worst impacts possibly being Barnegat Bay and Shrewsbury River, the National Weather Service said.

Depending on how the storm plays out, coastal flooding could continue into the weekend.

"All that being said, the forecast, particularly the rain and wind forecast, is very uncertain from Friday onward," National Weather Service forecasters said.
