Nor'easter Warnings Expand For NJ: Latest Updates

Winds of up to 50 mph, significant flooding and more are expected as an upcoming nor'easter grows stronger before slamming the Jersey Shore, according to the latest forecast.

Coastal flood warnings will be in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday through 2 a.m. Saturday in Cape May, Atlantic, Ocean and southeastern Burlington counties.

"Moderate tidal flooding could continue into the weekend," the National Weather Service said. "Cannot rule out major tidal flooding impacts, especially within Barnegat Bay."

Major flooding is not currently forecast, according to the National Weather Service. However, with a full moon Saturday, the threat is there, forecasters said.

"It all will depend on the track of the coastal storm," the National Weather Service said.

Coastal flood advisories will be in place in Salem, Monmouth, Middlesex, Gloucester, Camden, Cumberland and northwestern Burlington counties.

The shore is also under a wind advisory through 8 p.m. Thursday, with winds of 25 mph to 35 mph and gusts of up to 50 mph forecast.

Forecasters still are not certain of how things will play out heading into the weekend, as it depends on what track the storm takes.

A track that heads northeast away from New Jersey would limit heavy winds and rain to the Jersey Shore. A storm that stays closer to the coast would cause wider impacts to the state.

"Nevertheless, uncertainty for forecast details Friday and beyond remains high," National Weather Service forecasters said. "With that said, regardless of the exact outcome, coastal flooding, marine and surf hazards are expected to continue through at least Saturday."

Regardless of which track the storm takes, it will head away from New Jersey on Sunday.
