Flooding Threat Remains In Parts Of NJ With More Rain On Radar
A coastal flood advisory is in effect for five counties, and certain areas are expected to see minor flooding Thursday and Friday as well.
NEW JERSEY —Quick-moving thunderstorms Tuesday night caused flooding in parts of the Garden State, and forecasters advise residents in coastal areas of New Jersey to watch for more flooding throughout the rest of week.
A coastal flood advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday in Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland, Monmouth, and Ocean counties. Up to one foot of flooding is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways, said the National Weather Service.
“At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways,” the weather agency said. “Some partial or full road closures are possible.”

Residents in eastern Essex county are also asked to be alert for brief, minor flooding near the waterfront and shoreline.
A threat of isolated severe weather exists into Wednesday evening, as well as the threat of flooding according to the NWS. Storms Tuesday placed a weak front across southern New Jersey "which may be enough to set off more showers and scattered (thunderstorms)," the National Weather Service said.

"Expect storms to quickly dwindle after sunset, though a few showers may linger," the weather service added Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday will be hot and humid again, with the possibility of pop-up thunderstorms and rain showers. Minor flooding could also be possible on Thursday evening in some areas, such as near the ocean in Atlantic City, Barnegat Bay, Great Egg Harbor Bay, and Cape May Harbor.
“Some stronger storms are possible, but the main threat will be locally heavy rain,” said NWS forecasters.
