NEW JERSEY — The powerful Hurricane Helene, the storm that's killed several people and left a million without power in the south, continues to make its way north Friday. While the storm isn't going to have any direct impacts on the Garden State, we may still feel some of its effects, according to forecasters.

"This storm is quite expansive, and some moisture from the edge of Helene is anticipated to move in to our area by later today into tonight," the National Weather Service said Friday morning.

Helene's remnants will bring rain to parts of New Jersey, forecasters say. South Jersey will see some Friday afternoon and evening, and it will spread towards western Central Jersey where the state borders Pennsylvania.

But don't expect a lot.

"Generally speaking, rain amounts through tonight should not be too impressive for most areas...mainly a tenth to a quarter of an inch or less," the National Weather Service said, though South Jersey could see heavier rain amounting to a half-inch to an inch overnight.

"The dividing line between Helene's moisture and mainly dry air will extend across the Ohio Valley, central Appalachians and the lower mid-Atlantic," AccuWeather forecasters said, noting that the storm will slow down after moving inland, which makes it "highly unlikely" for rain to reach much more north.

"A long the mid-Atlantic coast to part of the central Appalachians, the moisture may be more in the form of drizzle and intermittent light rain," AccuWeather forecasters said.

On Saturday, a warm front will sit over Philly, according to the National Weather Service. South of that front will be relatively dry, and north will be cloudy with periods of showers.

Rain is likely to continue through early next week, National Weather Service forecasters said.
