Long Delays, Thunderstorms In Forecast: Patch PM Traffic Digest

NEW JERSEY — Good afternoon, New Jersey! With a rainy forecast for the Garden State, here's what you need to know before you leave for the Tuesday evening commute.

Traffic Updates

North Jersey

As of 4:39 p.m., there are delays on NJ 17 southbound from Ridgewood Ave in Paramus to South of Passaic St in Rochelle Park Twp. Current travel time is 10-15 minutes.

As of 4:22 p.m., there are delays at the Holland Tunnel south tunnel eastbound New Jersey Side in Jersey City. All lanes open. The travel time to the New York side is 15 minutes from New Jersey Turnpike Exit 14C and 15 minutes from New Jersey 139 at Tonnelle Circle.

As of 4:00 p.m., there are delays on the New Jersey Turnpike - Western Spur southbound from North of Interchange 16W - NJ 3 in East Rutherford to North of Interchange 15E - US 1&9 in Newark. All lanes open, 5-mile delay due to volume.

As of 3:56 p.m., there's a malfunctioning traffic light on NJ 3 westbound at US 1&9 in North Bergen Twp. All lanes open, 10-minute delay.

Central Jersey

As of 4:57 p.m., there's debris on the Garden State Parkway local lanes southbound South of Exit 114 - Red Hill Rd in Middletown Twp. 1 left lane blocked.

As of 4:51 p.m., there's a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike outer roadway northbound South of Molly Pitcher Service Area in Cranbury Twp. All lanes open — vehicles moved to the right shoulder.

As of 4:41 p.m., there's a crash on US 1 southbound Scudders Mill Rd in Plainsboro Twp. 2 right lanes closed, 5-10 minute delay.

As of 4:30 p.m., there's a truck fire and debris on NJ 18 southbound South of Exit 25 - NJ 79 in Marlboro Twp. All lanes closed, 5-10 minute delay, use caution.

As of 4:17 p.m., there's a water main break on US 1 southbound area of Adams Ln/Cozzens Ln in North Brunswick Twp. 1 right lane closed, 10 minute delay.

As of 4:04 p.m., there are electrical repairs on NJ 37 westbound at Bimini Dr in Toms River Twp. Right shoulder jug handle closed until 10 p.m.

As of 3:58 p.m., there are Delays on I-287 southbound from Exit 7 - South Randolphville Rd in Piscataway Twp to North of Exit 3 - New Durham Rd in Edison Twp current travel time is 10-15 minutes.

South Jersey

As of 4:15 p.m., there's a crash on I-295 southbound North of Exit 22 - CR 642/Hessian Ave in West Deptford Twp. 1 left lane and shoulder closed, use caution.

Transit Updates

Morris & Essex Line train #430, the 5:15 p.m. arrival into Hoboken, is up to 15 minutes late due to earlier congestion from train #423.

Morris & Essex Line train #423, the 4:14 p.m. arrival into Gladstone, is up to 15 minutes late due to earlier track maintenance.

Atlantic City Line train #4631, the 4:24 p.m. arrival into Atlantic City, is up to 25 min. late due to earlier equipment availability.

All other NJ Transit rail lines are running on or close to schedule.

Weather

Forecasters anticipated thunderstorms and showers moving into New Jersey on Tuesday afternoon, running through the evening. The storms will mainly occur after 5 p.m. and may range in severity, according to the National Weather Service. So keep an eye on local conditions that affect your trip home.
