It Could Feel Like 106 Degrees In NJ This Week: New Heat Wave Forecast
Heat indices could reach up to 106 degrees this week and the heat wave isn't expected to abate until Sunday, forecasters say.
NEW JERSEY — The state's first heat wave of the year is expected to hit Tuesday, with most of New Jersey under a heat advisory through Thursday morning.
That advisory is for all of the state except Atlantic and Cape May counties, as well as shore towns in Monmouth and Ocean counties, according to the National Weather Service. An excessive heat watch has been issued through Sunday.
It's going to get up to the low-90s in most of New Jersey Tuesday, except near the shore where it will only reach the low- to mid-80s. It'll feel like it's up to 99 degrees thanks to the heat index, forecasters say.

"Given that this is early season heat, the Heat Risk for today should be in the Minor category for DelMarVa and portions of southern NJ, and Moderate for much of the I95 corridor and areas north and west," the National Weather Service said.
The temperatures are expected to go above historical averages, and AccuWeather forecasters say the heat wave will be "moderate" in New York City and "severe" in Philadelphia.

"The peak of the heat wave for most of this zone is expected to occur around or just after the start of astronomical summer," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
Don't expect any relief after the sun goes down either, according to forecasters. Temperatures will only fall to the mid-60s and low-70s overnight.
