NJ Toddler Suffers Severe Burns And ‘Permanent’ Injury On Flight, Lawsuit Says
The girl was left with severe injuries, the family said.
A mother from New Jersey is suing United Airlines after her four-year-old daughter was allegedly burned by hot water during a flight.
On an April 28, 2025 flight from Newark to Tel Aviv, a crew member gave Miriam Landynski's other child a cup of uncovered, severely hot water, the complaint filed with the District Court of New Jersey on Feb. 27 stated.
The child was then carrying the water back to his family when it spilled on the girl's lap and "severely burned" her.

According to the family's attorney, the water was around 200 degrees Fahrenheit and was given to the boy because he wanted to make tea.
The claim alleges that his sister suffered permanent injuries, pain, and mental distress. It also lists medical costs as a result of the injuries.

The suit says the girl, "was deprived of her enjoyment of life, pursuits, and interests and in the future shall continue to be deprived."
The family is asking for a jury trial to award "full" and "fair damages," along with interest, costs, and disbursements paid out by United.
In 2024, another family sued United after they said a defective tray table led to burns and "disfigurement" from hot food falling on their son while aboard a plane. The flight, in July 2022, was traveling from Tel Aviv to Newark.
In response to Patch, United Airlines declined to comment on the case.
