NJ's Best Public High Schools: 2022 Rankings Released

2 New Jersey schools cracked the Top 10 of Niche's top schools in the nation, and 14 NJ schools ranked in the Top 100. Here's the list.

NEW JERSEY - How do New Jersey schools fare compared to the rest of the country?

Niche.com just released its annual rankings of the best high schools in the U.S., and New Jersey is well represented at the top of the list.

The top-ranked public high school in the country was The Davidson Academy, located in Reno, Nevada, followed by North Carolina's School of Science and Mathematics and Massachusetts' MA Academy for Math and Science School.

In the Garden State, High Technology High School (Lincroft) ranked at No. 8 in the nation, followed by Bergen County Academies (Hackensack) at No. 9, Biotechnology High School (Freehold) at No. 21 and Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (Manahawkin) at No. 24.

In fact, there were 14 New Jersey schools that made it into the top 100 best public high schools in the nation, although many more were listed among the best in the state:

  • Biotechnology High School (No. 21)
  • Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (No. 24)

  • Academy for Information Technology (No. 42)
  • Bergen County Technical High School (No. 57)
  • Princeton High School (No. 66)
  • Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies (No. 81)
  • West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South (No. 84)
  • Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School (No. 85)
  • Academy for Allied Health Science (No. 94)
  • Millburn Senior High School (No. 96)

Niche's 2022 rankings factored in academic and student life data from thousands of schools across the country. The most important factor was academics, but Niche also looked at culture and diversity, teachers, clubs and activities, sports, and more. You can read more about Niche's methodology here.
