OnMogul Blogger Promotes Black Women in Entrepreneurship - Ahyanah Mincy
NJ college student uses her blogging platform to promote women and black women in business and entrepreneurship. - Ahyanah Mincy

It is very important for black women to see how important they can become in the professional world. Often powerful roles in the corporate and business world are given to white men or men in general. Women are often given secondary roles to men in business and entrepreneurship. The media is partially responsible for the rhetoric that only men can be powerful in business because they only share stories about powerful men in business. I'm pretty sure you’ve heard about Elon Musk, Bill Gates or Jeff Amos but how many of you have heard of Ursula Burns, Tiffany Pham or Meg Whitman?? That is because the media shines it’s spotlight on male leaders in business but not female leaders. Young women need to see that women can be executives and presidents of organizations but that will not happen until the media or someone in the media shines line on female entrepreneurship.
In the past decade the media has taken strides in including women in business but there is still a lack of recognizing black women in business. Most people don't even know that black women are the fastest growing entrepreneurial group in america but their stories don't get told through the media. But there is one college student who has dedicated her platform to showing black women leading in business and entrepreneurship. Her name is Ahyanah Mincy and she uses her verified OnMogul blog to showcase black women leading in business. She writes articles about businesses owned by black women and successful female entrepreneurs. Her most popular article is called “Successful Black Female Entrepreneurs Give Advice to Young Black Women”. Not only is she showing the beautiful stories of black women succeeding and leading in business but she also provides advice to young black women.

This college student saw the problem of black women being unrepresented in business and entrepreneurship and as a black woman instead of complaining she became a media outlet for black women. The media is doing slightly better job featuring black women in business but there is still a long road to go until women get the same spotlight in business as men.
