Massive Bread Recall Hits NJ
FDA records show two products were recalled after metal fragments were found in various bread products.

Bakkavor, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, initiated the voluntary recall earlier this year. The recall was then re-classified as Class II on March 23.

A Class II recall is described by the FDA as "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
The products include more than 23,000 cases of Roasted Tomato Parmesan Focaccia Bread and more than 2,000 cases of Basil Pesto & Mozzerella Pizza.

The cases were shipped to Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia.
According to the FDA, the reason for the recall was "Metal fragments in bread."
"The firm discovered metal fragments in various bread products. They determined the cause to be roasted tomatoes provided by one of their ingredient suppliers," according to the FDA.
One recalled item is Hello Fresh Basil Pesto & Mozzarella Pizza, net weight 13.90 ounces, UPC 8 57919 00785 5, distributed by Grocery Delivery E-Services, New York, NY 10005.
The second recalled item is Roasted Tomato Parmesan Focaccia Bread sold under multiple brand names, including Frederik's by Meijer Slow-Roasted Tomato & Shredded Parmesan Cheese, net weight 13.75 ounces, UPC 7 13733 88387 0, distributed by Meijer Distribution, Inc., Grand Rapids, Michigan 49544, and fresh & simple Roasted Tomato & Parmesan Focaccia, net weight 13.75 ounces.
