Rain Returns To NJ: Strong Winds, Flooding In Store

NEW JERSEY — Get ready for more rain in New Jersey.

The sunshine from Tuesday is gone and there's a chance of showers through Friday, according to the forecasters at the National Weather Service.

High winds are likely, with the strongest winds expected in North Jersey and along the Jersey Shore. Gusts of up to 40 mph are possible on Thursday night, forecasters say.

Wednesday is likely to be a cloudy day, with showers in the afternoon, according to the weather service.

Atlantic, Cape May, Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Coastal Atlantic and Southeastern Burlington are under a Coastal Flood Advisory from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday, with "up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways," the National Weather Service said.

Then, scattered showers and possible thunderstorms are forecasted for Thursday afternoon into Thursday night.

There's also a chance of minor to moderate coastal flooding along the East Coast, forecasters at AccuWeather said. Wind gusts may cause power outages and some beach erosion, according to AccuWeather.

Moderate flooding is also possible along rivers in New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service.

More rain is likely overnight Thursday and early Friday morning, turning into partly sunny weather in the afternoon.

Early reports show the weekend being dry and sunny, with seasonal temperatures leaning warmer on Sunday.

Central Jersey
