Remembering New Milford Officer Killed In The Line Of Duty
New Milford Patrolman Kenneth Couch drowned during a search and rescue operation.

NEW MILFORD, CT —President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962, and the week surrounding it as National Police Week.
It was established by a joint resolution of Congress, paying recognition to those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
In honor of National Police Week, Patch is remembering New Milford Patrolman Kenneth Couch.

Patrolman Couch drowned while attempting to make a rescue in the Housatonic River. He drowned after falling out of a boat during a search and rescue operation. Patrolman Couch was a U.S. Army veteran of WWI and had served with the New Milford Police Department for 10 years. He was survived by his wife.
