Snow, Ice, Coastal Flooding Warnings In NJ For Friday’s Storm

NEW JERSEY — A quiet start to Friday will give way to another winter storm with a chance for snow, ice and flooding in parts of New Jersey.

Coastal Flood Advisories and Wind Advisories have been issued for parts of the Atlantic Coast and most of the Delaware Bay.

Those in NJ's northeastern counties can expect wintry precipitation, said forecasters. Snow and sleet are expected in Warren, Morris, and Sussex counties Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, per the National Weather Service.

Total snow and sleet in these counties ranges from 1-3 inches, said the NWS.

Widespread rainfall around one inch is expected, with locally higher amounts possible in the I-95 corridor and in central New Jersey, per the NWS.

A marine gale warning is in effect for the Atlantic coastal waters and Delaware Bay Friday evening through the night, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts up to 45 knots and seas 6-11 feet "will likely make navigation very difficult," the NWS said.
Maximum wind gusts will be close to 40 miles per hour along the Shore and even get close to 50 mph, forecasters said.

Residents in coastal areas also are under a wind advisory, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour possible.
Minor coastal flooding is expected in New Jersey as well, with a risk for moderate flooding particularly along the Barnegat and Raritan bays.

Atlantic, Ocean, southeastern Burlington, and eastern Monmouth
Wind advisory until 4 a.m. Saturday
Coastal Atlantic, Coastal Ocean, and eastern Monmouth
Coastal flood watch, 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday
Monmouth, Middlesex, Ocean and southeastern Burlington.
This "dynamic and potent storm" is predicted to spread snow across the Great Lakes, northern New York State, and New England — up to a foot or more of snow is possible in Detroit and Boston, says AccuWeather.
