2 Shots Of Snow, Rain, Icy Mix Forecast For NJ’s Holiday Weekend

Some snow will fall Friday night before Sunday's storm, according to the latest forecast.

Valentine's Day will start off with a dusting of snow before a storm impacts New Jersey Sunday into Monday, according to the latest forecast.

"A fast moving mid level short wave trough will spark some snow showers which could progress as far southeast as northern New Jersey very late tonight into early tomorrow morning," National Weather Service forecasters said Friday.

Not much is expected in terms of accumulation, but surfaces may be slippery Saturday morning, forecasters said.

For Sunday's storm, while the exact forecast is still uncertain, it looks as though the Jersey Shore will get rain, National Weather Service forecasters said. This could start off as a rain/snow mix.

The forecast appears to follow "a more southerly track that does not phase with the northern stream trough (at least while it is near our region) resulting in less impacts for our region," National Weather Service forecasters said.

"These solutions favor a warmer, faster system, with precipitation primarily confined to the coastal plains," National Weather Service forecasters said. "This solution would result in little, if any, snow accumulations."

Following the storm, New Jersey will see temperatures rising. Next week, temperatures will climb to above normal, with highs in the 40s and possibly even into the 50s by mid-week, according to the National Weather Service.

More chances of precipitation come Wednesday into Thursday, according to the forecast. With warmer air in store, this would make for mostly rain, primarily in Central and North Jersey.
