Latest Snow Forecast For NJ
Snow is coming down fast in New Jersey Monday morning, with part of the state potentially seeing a foot of accumulation.

NEW JERSEY — The first big snow storm of the year arrived in New Jersey Monday morning, with accumulation already reported in the Garden State.
The latest forecast from the National Weather Service has the southernmost tip of the state seeing between 8 and 12 inches of snow. The rest of South Jersey could see up to 8 inches of snow, with forecasted totals decreasing as you head north.
Gov. Phil Murphy has called for a state of emergency in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties, where the most snow is predicted.

A winter storm warning is in effect in Gloucester, Camden, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Salem and southeastern Burlington counties, while a winter weather advisory is in effect in northwestern Burlington and Ocean counties.
The morning could see snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour or more in far South Jersey, according to the National Weather Service.

"When it is snowing that fast a rate, despite the best efforts of road crews, it is difficult to keep up with the accumulation and keep roads clear of snow," AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jonathan Porter warned. "We've seen similar situations in the past catch people off guard who aren't prepared for the impacts, leading to ‘highway chaos’ including multiple-vehicle pileups and traffic jams, which have resulted in major interstates being shut down for hours."
Snow should ease up by afternoon. However, the National Weather Service said that it may linger into the evening particularly south of Philadelphia and even reinvigorate the snow, but not to the rate that it is falling Monday morning.
Once the storm tapers off, things will get very cold, and there could be some blowing and drifting snow.
"While the worst travel impacts will occur during the peak of the storm, difficult travel can continue in parts of the mid-Atlantic well after the storm into Monday night, with temperatures falling into the 20s, which can result in wet areas becoming icy," said Porter.
