NEW JERSEY — A stormy start to the week is in store in New Jersey, with damaging winds up to 60 mph set to be the greatest threat for the state. Large hail and isolated tornadoes are also possible, forecasters said.

While patchy fog during Monday commuting hours is expected to improve through the mid-to-late morning, the afternoon should usher in possible showers and severe thunderstorms, the National Weather Service said.

“Numerous severe storms are possible this afternoon,” the National Weather Service Mount Holly station tweeted Monday morning. “Damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat, with large hail and isolated tornadoes also possible.”
