Downpours To Dampen NJ's New Year's Eve, Forecasters Say
The Garden State will ring in 2025 with above normal temperatures, but plenty of rain may put a damper on New Year's Eve celebrations.
NEW JERSEY — A trend of milder temperatures will continue as we ring in 2025 in New Jersey, but expect some wind and plenty of rain putting a damper on New Year's Eve celebrations, according to the latest forecast.
Monday and Tuesday will see some unseasonably warm temperatures. Highs Tuesday will be mostly in the 50s, according to the National Weather Service, staying a bit cooler in the northwestern corner of the state.
Later in the afternoon Tuesday, rain will start spreading through South Jersey. A "trouble-making setup" will bring drenching rain to the region, AccuWeather forecasters warn.

The rain will last through the ball drop in Times Square into the early hours of Wednesday, and while temperatures may be mild, the rain and breeze may make it feel a little chillier, AccuWeather forecasters say.
Expect rainfall amounts of one-third to two-thirds of an inch with locally up to an inch possible in places, according to the National Weather Service.

And the mild temperatures won't last into the new year. A cold front moves in Wednesday, turning any lingering rain to snow, the National Weather Service said. Conditions will get cold and blustery as January begins.
