Free Wawa Coffee In NJ Thursday As Company Celebrates 'Wawa Day'

The chain is giving away a hot cup of coffee Thursday for free —any size, any flavor — and recognizing special customers and associates.

NEW JERSEY — Warm weather and hot coffee go hand-in-hand, right? "Wawa Day" is April 13, and the beloved chain is giving away a hot cup of coffee Thursday to customers for free — any size, any flavor — at its New Jersey locations.

Wawa expects to give two million cups of fresh-brewed coffee to customers at its nearly 1,000 stores in NJ and around the East Coast. The gas station and convenience store chain is celebrating its 59th anniversary in retail and also celebrating the connection between Wawa and the communities it serves.

The company will also be shining a spotlight on "Day Brighteners:" Wawa customers employees, stores, and communities with an uplifting moment or heartfelt story. Wawa invited customers to share stories of how associates or store teams have made an impact in their lives and/or bettered the community.

The company will make a $50 contribution for every Day Brightener story it received to Children's Miracle Network (up to $50,000). Wawa created videos of 10 stores, including three in New Jersey, who inspire kindness and positivity.

Store #8457 in Butler, Store #725 in Moorestown, and Store #947 in Egg Harbor all employ a "day brightener" whom Wawa has highlighted for their customer service.

And, all Wawa stores will select a "Day Brightening" customer who is "near and dear" to the store team. These special customers will get a sash, Wawa mug, and week's worth of free coffee.

“Every year, Wawa Day gives us a chance to honor our heritage and the journey that has taken us from a single convenience store in 1964 to close to 1,000 stores with countless customers connections 59 years later,” said Chris Gheysens, Wawa’s CEO. “This year, we are excited to honor the special role our associates play in our customers’ lives by capturing these incredible stories and making them a focal point of our Wawa Day festivities. We can’t wait to learn about new and touching examples of the way our associates brighten our customers’ lives and continue to help us grow and fulfill more lives in every community we serve."
