Tornado, Hail, Flooding Possible In NJ: Full Forecast, Timing

Damaging winds, large hail and even an isolated tornado or two are all possible with the storms Wednesday, forecasters say.

NEW JERSEY — Storms are expected to roll in to New Jersey this evening into the night, bringing damaging winds, large hail and a possible tornado or two, according to the latest forecast.

The day is going to be a hot one, with highs in the low-to-mid-90s and and high humidity combining to make heat indices reach triple digits in many areas of the state, per the National Weather Service. A heat advisory has been issued for parts of Somerset County down to Gloucester County through 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Then later in the afternoon, the entire state is at risk of severe weather, according to forecasters. The main threat here is damaging winds, the National Weather Service said, "although there will be a chance for large hail, and an isolated tornado or two."
