$1 Million Winner In NJ As Mega Millions Jackpot Hits $475M

New Jersey had a $1 million winner in the Mega Millions drawing this weekend, and the seventh largest jackpot in the history of the contest will be offered this week.

The jackpot is now an estimated $475 million – or an estimated $307.0 million cash, lottery officials said.

The jackpot keeps rolling after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – the white balls 7, 8, 26, 65 and 67, plus the gold Mega Ball 4.

There were still plenty of winners in the Friday drawing – a total of 1,299,033 winning tickets at all prize levels.

Two tickets matched the five white balls to win the game’s second prize of $1 million; they were sold in New Jersey and New York, lottery officials said.

Patch will update when the location of the winning ticket is identified.

For matching four white balls plus the Mega Ball, 38 tickets won the game’s $10,000 third prize. Five of those are actually worth $30,000 each because they also included the optional Megaplier, an extra purchase available in most states.

Since the last jackpot was won in Missouri on March 12, there have been more than 15.9 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including 31 worth $1 million or more, lottery officials said.

In addition to the $50 million prize won on March 12, other Mega Millions jackpots awarded this year include $437 million in New York on January 1 (the ninth largest in the game’s history) and $273 in New Jersey on March 1.

The next drawing will be held Tuesday at 11 pm. All New Jersey Lottery Mega Millions tickets must be purchased before 10:45 pm to participate in the drawing.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2; by adding the Megaplier option for an extra dollar per play, players can increase their non-jackpot winnings up to five times. Mega Millions tickets are sold in 46 participating jurisdictions. Drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays.
