ASBURY PARK, NJ — The city of Asbury Park installed a new kayak and canoe storage rack at the Deal Lake Boat Launch, located at Main Street and 7th Avenue.
This gives residents a convenient place to store their kayaks and canoes close to the water.
The rack holds 12 kayaks and canoes total. Storage slots are available for seasonal rental, running January 1 through December 31, on a first come, first served basis and are limited in number. The fee is $250 per kayak or canoe, prorated by month for the 2026 season, and rentals are open to Asbury Park residents only, limited to two (2) kayak or canoe spaces per household.
Residents can apply for a slot online at https://asburyparknj.seamlessdocs.com/ng/fa/WatercraftStorage.
"This is a small thing that makes a real difference for the folks who use Deal Lake. Now you don't have to haul your kayak or canoe back and forth every time you want to get out on the water," said Mayor John Moor.
"This is exactly the kind of practical, resident-focused improvement we want to keep delivering. It's a straightforward amenity. It removes a real barrier for residents who want to enjoy Deal Lake and don't have storage space for a canoe or kayak, or can't transport one when they'd like to," said City Manager Adam Cruz.
