• Asbury Park High School Celebrating 100 Years (thecoaster.net) — Asbury Park High School is gearing up for a huge 100th‑anniversary celebration on Saturday, Oct. 24, with a rain date of Oct. 25, featuring a community parade and stadium program. Students, alumni, educators, and local organizations are planning tours, performances, historical exhibits, and a student-made documentary to honor a century of education and service to the Asbury Park community.
• Rare mauve stinger jellyfish sightings increase along Jersey Shore (nj.com subscription) — Unusual mauve stinger jellyfish have been washing up on Asbury Park beaches, with one local spotting more than a dozen within just two blocks. Experts say these small but powerfully stinging jellyfish are rare for New Jersey shores, and sightings are increasing at several nearby beaches, so swimmers should stay alert and avoid touching any jellyfish they see.
