NEPTUNE CITY, NJ — One person was found dead early Saturday after a fire at a home in Neptune City, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said.
The fire remains under investigation but as of Saturday afternoon "there has been no indication that the fire was suspicious in nature," the prosecutor's office said.
The fire was reported by a 911 call shortly after 2:15 a.m. on Bennett Avenue between West Sylvania Avenue and Prospect Street, authorities said.
There were visible flames when firefighters arrived, the prosecutor's office said.
After the fire was brought under control, an adult was found dead inside the home, the prosecutor's office said.
Prosecutors identified the person as a resident of the home but were not releasing the person's name pending notification of next of kin, they said.
The investigation is continuing and involves the Prosecutor's Office, Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office, and Neptune City Police Department.
