ASBURY PARK – A 24-year-old Asbury Park man was shot Monday at his Dewitt Avenue residence and later died at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Asbury Park police responded to a 911 call on Monday at about 11:36 p.m. reporting a man was shot at his residence in the 100 block of Dewitt Avenue in the city, prosecutors said.

Asbury Park police arrived to find Christian Lahens, 24, with a gunshot wound. Lahens was transported Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 12:16 a.m., prosecutors said.

A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Asbury Park Police Department is active and ongoing.
