ASBURY PARK, NJ — This January, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office brought the Recovery Diversion Program (RDP) to Asbury Park town court.

Through the program, instead of traditional prosecution, non-violent, low-level criminal offenders will be offered a road to recovery if they are addicted to drugs.

This is meant to help people who have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. The program is for low-level offenders suffering from substance abuse disorders.

The program, which takes between 12 weeks and six months depending on treatment recommendations, was created by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office to combat early substance abuse.

For those who successfully complete the program, the Asbury Park municipal court prosecutor will make a motion before the municipal court judge for dismissal of charges and expedited expungement, if applicable.
