Bad Gas At NJ Station Disables 13 Vehicles In Monmouth County

Thirteen vehicles were disabled this week because of bad gas at a New Jersey station, police said.

The reports came in on Wednesday, when Ocean Township police fielded numerous calls that vehicles suffered malfunctions after refueling at the Wanamassa Sunoco on Route 35 at Sunset Avenue in Ocean Township, police said.

Police Officer Randy Slawsky responded to the station and met with customers at that location as well as an employee who had stopped serving gasoline, police said. Notifications were made to the Monmouth County Department of Weights and Measures.
Further information received on Thursday revealed that a sample pulled during yesterday’s testing revealed a significant amount of water in the gasoline, police said.

As a result of this test, the station is currently closed while county officials and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Consumer Affairs investigate the cause of the contamination.
