Beats & Rhymes Boot Camp Debuts in Asbury Park

This summer local teenagers will have the unique opportunity to write, record, rehearse, and perform their original music at the Beats & Rhymes Boot Camp at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County and Lakehouse Recording Studios.

This free, one-week intensive workshop will run from Monday, July 30th through Friday, August 3rd and give participants the skills needed to produce their own beats through audio and song production and engineering.

On the last day of boot camp, teens will have a full day to record the songs they created at Lakehouse Recording Studios, followed by a performance showcase at the Asbury Park Music Foundation at 7 p.m.

The Boot Camp is an outgrowth of the Hip Hop Institute at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County. The Hip Hop Institute launched in 2015 in collaboration with Lakehouse Music Academy (LHMA), a progressive music school committed to the development of comprehensive musicianship for every student.

At the Hip Hop Institute, instructors from LHMA come to the Club to run workshops. In addition to learning how to mix music utilizing state-of-the-art audio engineering equipment, participants acquire the skills necessary for writing, producing, and marketing their creations. Students explore the back-end process to producing a record including editing, sound engineering, and branding.
