The free 50th Annual Clearwater Festival, New Jersey's oldest festival of music and environmental awareness, rolls into Asbury Park's Sunset Park the ocean on Saturday August 30 from 11am. Join the celebration of music, fun, food and info about how to protect Mother Earth -
The family friendly event features rock/pop and folk music from performers The Wag, Poppa John "Bug" and the Jam Band, Spook Handy, The Black Ties and The Circle of Song folksingers, led by Ingrid Heldt. Special guest will be performer Bob Killian, folksinger and founder of the non-profit New Jersey Friends of Clearwater, which began the annual festival in 1975 on Sandy Hook. Killian was influenced by folksinger and environmental activist Pete Seeger.
Environmental groups, crafters, food and other vendors, a children's area and a Sea Shanty Singing Clinic will be offered in the shady park near the ocean. Bring your own chair or blanket.
