Man Hit By Car In Asbury Park Tuesday Night

The car that hit him initially did not stop and fled the scene, said police.

ASBURY PARK, NJ — Editor's note: The first version of this story incorrectly reported the man was riding a bike when he was hit. He was not. He was a pedestrian.

A city resident was hit by a car Tuesday evening in Asbury Park, said city police.

The 36-year-old Asbury Park resident was hit in the area of 401 Ridge Avenue. The car that hit him initially did not stop and fled the scene, said police.

The man was conscious and alert when he was evaluated at the scene by the Asbury Park Fire Department, and he was taken to a local hospital for an injury to his right leg/ankle.

A short time later, the driver, a 37-year-old woman from Flemington, NJ was located and stopped by police. No summonses or criminal charges were issued at this time.
