Coca-Cola, Minute Maid, Sprite Products Recalled In NJ

NEW JERSEY — If you’ve stocked up on Coca-Cola, Minute Maid or Sprite products for the holidays, or have just a few spare bottles of the soft drinks and other beverages on hand, check the labels to make sure they aren’t among products recalled in New Jersey because they may contain metal bolts and washers.

The affected juice and soft drink products were distributed in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Maine and New Jersey, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recalled Minute Maid products, first reported by Food Safety News, are:

• Berry Punch: Date codes Jan0422 NP and Jan0522 NP, Batch 0010323455 and 0010259344 (recall F-0276-2022)
• Strawberry Lemonade: Date code: Jan0322 NP, Batch: 0010259346 (recall F-0277-2022)
• Fruit Punch: Date Code: JAN0522 NP Batch: 0010323454 (recall F-0278-2022)

The affected Coca-Cola and Sprite products included in a November recall are:

• Coca-Cola 12-ounce cans: Date Code: AUG 1522 WM B
• Coca-Cola 12-ounce cans: Date Code: AUG 1522 WM C
• Sprite 12-ounce cans: Date Code: AUG 1522 WM B

All of the products recalled by the company have 2022 expiration dates. Customers may seek a refund at the place of purchase or simply throw them away.

Coca-Cola spokesperson Ann L. Moore told USA Today that the FDA registered the recall as a Class II incident; that means exposure to the contaminating product may cause temporary or medically reversible health problems.

The FDA said the risk of an adverse reaction is remote in such recalls but that people who bought the products should still exercise caution.
