Crash Closes Route 18 North In Monmouth County

A crash closed a major New Jersey highway on Thursday, police said.

The serious collision accident response team was requested to respond to a two-vehicle crash that's closed Route 18 northbound at Route 33, according to Neptune Township police.

The ramp from Route 33 west onto Route 18 north was also closed.

Neptune police said on Twitter: "RT 18 North will remain closed from RT 33 to RT 66 as SCART investigates following a motor vehicle crash. Heavy delays on RT 18 North from Wall Twp into Neptune Twp, AVOID THE AREA."

Two people were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. All traffic was being detoured onto Route 33.
